The U.S. Senate has singled out the Colorado Springs Airport as one of only11 airports for priority funding by the Federal Aviation Administration duringFiscal Year 1997. The Senate’s Transportation Appropriations bill is arecommendation to the FAA Airport Improvement Program funding prioritiesduring FY ’97.
The bill was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, Subcommitteeon Transportation. It gives priority consideration to the 11 airport projects,including taxiway construction and rehabilitation at Colorado Springs, oneof the nation’s fastest-growing major airports. The Colorado Springs Airporthas identified five taxiway projects for FAA funding consideration.
The bill requires passage by the full Senate and approval by a House-Senateconference committee.
