Century Casinos Inc. reported net operating revenue of $1.23 million for the second quarter ended June 30 compared to $920,000 for the same period a year ago. The net loss for the quarter was $720,000 or .06 cents per share, after a one-time charge of $483,000 for disposal of fixed assets and costs associated with debt financing arrangements that were not consummated. The recent quarter does not reflect results from Womacks casino, which was purchased by Century on July 1. Net loss for the same period a year ago was $879,000 or .08 cents per share.
Casino revenue for the second quarter of 1996 was $1.21 million or 42% higher than a year ago. In part, this reflects a 38% increase in casino revenue from the company’s Legends casino in Cripple Creek. In addition, to the leverage gained by higher revenues, casino costs were reduced from $505,000 to $449,000.
