Western Pacific Airlines, which intended to follow in Southwest Airline’s footsteps and fly one model of plane, the Boeing 737, has had a hard time finding a used 737. There are 2,800 used 737s flying now, but few are for sale or lease.
The 737 jetliner, the most popular commercial jetliner ever produced, is a sought-after jet, and competition is intense.
A used 737-300 sells for up to $23 million, $4 million more than they cost two years ago. A new 737 model lists for $35 million.
In other WestPac news, the airline has announced it would extend its Super Summer Saver fares final purchase date to Aug. 26.
WestPac’s new $1 million hangar at the Springs’ airport is near completion, expected to be completed by Sept. 28. The hangar, which during construction has faced high winds that have caused damage, is expected to be completed by winter.
