Two local businesses are joining forces to create a comprehensive store that is geared toward family and adult fun.

The Compleat Gamer, previously located at 315 N. Tejon St., and Great Games & Hobbies, formerly at 10 Southgate Road, are merging. The new store will be called Compleat Games & Hobbies Inc.

The sore will occupy the space vacated by Criterion Bike Shop, 326 N. Tejon St., which recently relocated to a bigger store on Northpark Drive. The new location will cover 4,000 square feet and occupy more than 3,800 square feet of retail space. The new footage will be double the size of both previous stores space.

The purchase price for the retail space on North Tejon was $385,000.

Ty Hare, owner of The Compleat Gamer, and Thomas McDowell, proprietor of Great Games & Hobbies, opened the doors of the new business Aug. 29.

The two arranged for a U.S. Small Business Administration guaranteed loan. The loan was handled through Dan Rundgren of The Money Store Investment Corp.’s Colorado Springs office in conjunction with Pikes Peak Regional Development, a certified development company.

The store will offer the largest selection in the Pikes Peak area of plastic model kits, chess kits, and model trains.

The two men said they are optimistic about the merger because both are well known to Colorado Springs game enthusiasts.
