Big retail contributed big wads of money to local construction, according to permits filed with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. Wal-Mart pulled permits to build its nearly $9 million, 208,433-square-foot store at 1575 Space Center Dr. And Target pulled permits for a $1.7 million remodel of its store at 335 N. Academy Blvd.
Colorado Structures Inc. will build Wal-Mart’s new superstore. Adolfson & Peterson got the nod for Target’s renovation.
Cavan Real Estate Investments received approval for two speculative office buildings valued at more than $2 million. A $1.4 million, 30,392-square-foot building is slated at 360 Wooten Rd. with a $640,000, 14,780-square-foot building at nearby 320 Wooten Rd. Daniel-Barry is the builder.
Powers Pediatric Group is building a $904,000 medical office at 6190 Barnes Rd. Daniel-Barry also got the nod for this 8,191-square-foot facility.
Best Way Disposal is spending $300,000 for a new office building at 650 Santa Fe St. Hammers Construction Inc. is the contractor for the 3,750-square-foot project.
Another notable project approved by the building department is Trinity Baptist Church’s $476,000 expansion and remodel. Copestone Co. earned that bid.
G.E. Johnson Construction Co. is remodeling Penrose Hospital’s main lobby and adding a coffee shop in a $249,600 project at the hospital’s 2215 N. Cascade location.
Downtown construction is hopping. UMB Bank is investing $250,000 to remodel offices at 104 S. Cascade Ave., calling on Arnold & Beaudin Inc. to refurbish and add 5,500 square feet.
Valentine Digital tapped Murphy Constructors of Colorado Springs Inc. for $160,000 worth of office remodeling at 3692 E. Bijou St. And Mistele’s Restaurant is completing $75,000 worth of interior and exterior work at 775 Bijou St. with Highland Builders Co.
Another downtown project is 32 Bleu’s $75,000 renovation of its 17,072-square-foot building at 32 S. Tejon. Lifestyle Builders is doing the work.
Bryan Construction Inc. got Quantum’s $97,000 remodel of offices at 10125 Federal Dr.
Big Residential Money
Feldman & Co. is building a $1.2 million, 10,000-square-foot single-family home at 5630 Butler Ct. C. R. Shea & Co. is building a $1.7 million, 8,968-square-foot home at The Fairways at Kissing Camels, 1910 Twinflower Pt.
Other single-family homes include Symphony Homes’ two $525,000, 6,514-square-foot homes at 5915 Buttermere Dr. and 250 Balmoral Way.
In Monument, Giltner Homes is building a $500,000, 6,717-square-foot home at 18550 Archers Dr., and Riverwood Homes of Colorado is erecting a $450,000, 6,037-square-foot home at 18825 Pagentry Pl. Brian Green Custom Homes was selected for a $425,000, 6,093-square-foot home at 17265 Colonial Park Dr. and a $400,000, 5,552-square-foot home at 1255 Scarsbrook Ct.
Copper Valley Builders took permits for the $420,000, 5,088-square-foot home at 3111 Promontory Peak Dr., in Colorado Springs, and Thomas Lefever is building his $400,000, 5,923-square-foot home at 12715 Kaibab Ct.
Townhomes & Condos
High Point Custom Homes is building the 5,227-square-foot, $500,000 townhome at 4130 Reserve Pt. and another $500,000, 6,203-square-foot townhome in The Greens at Kissing Camels.
C&A Construction got the bid for the $1 million, 15-unit condo at 2141 Legacy Ridge View. The project includes 15,358 square feet.
The building department approved 1,462 building permits last month, which included 770 residential alternations and 63 residential garages and carports.
