Colorado Spring’s FirTree Apartments at 3835 Radiant Dr. was the first property to receive certification in the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Crime Free Multi-Housing Program.
Conducted in partnership with the Apartment Association of Colorado Springs, the program trains rental-property owners, apartment managers, leasing agents, maintenance staff and other personnel in how to stop illegal activities on rental properties.
The three-phase training and certification includes an eight-hour classroom course; a property inspection to ensure minimum safety requirements, and a community social event where police discuss personal safety issues, encourage participation in the apartment crime watch program, and explain the crime-free certification.
Certified properties receive a Crime Free logo for display and are featured on police department and apartment association web pages.
Other properties receiving certification include Castle West Apartments, 3770 E. Uintah St., (June 3 certification) and Liberty Heights Retirement Community, 12105 Ambassador Dr. (June 27 certification).
