Dear Editor:

I don’t feel it is OK for (Gary) Pon to compare apples to oranges. (See “Custody battle ensues between state and workers’ comp giant,” CSBJ, Jan. 23, 2003) Zurich is an international company and is required to have several billion dollars in surplus. In turn, Zurich owns Mid-Century which is a national company.

Pinnacol is only statewide. Zurich and Mid Century salaries and bonuses are comparable to company gross income which I feel probably exceeds Pinnacol gross income.

In addition, stockholders own Zurich and Mid-Century and Pinnacol. Who owns Pinnacol? Pon did not make that clear.
