Governor to speak in the Springs
Gov. Bill Owens will present “The State of Colorado’s Economy” during a luncheon July 13 at the Antlers Adams Mark Hotel. The luncheon is being hosted by the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Colorado Springs Credit Union.

Mayor to present State of the City Address
Mayor Lionel Rivera will give the State of the City Address at 12:30 p.m. July 22 at Cheyenne Mountain Resort. The speech and luncheon are being hosted by The Pikes Peak Coalition of Chambers.

Rock Island Trail dedication on tap
The public is invited to celebrate the newest link of the nationally recognized Rock Island Trail beginning at 8:15 a.m. July 3 along the trail just south of Constitution Avenue between Murray and Powers boulevards.
The two-mile, $435,000 stretch is one of 38 TOPS funded trail projects. TOPS is a 0.1-cent sales tax that provides funding for trails, parks and open spaces.
Rock Island Trail is part of the nationwide Rails to Trails program, which encourages the development of multi-use trails along abandoned railroad beds. The trail also is part of the nationally designated America the Beautiful Trail, which is proposed to run from Peyton to Cripple Creek.
Kids play golf for free in Aurora
As part of “National Take Your Daughter to the Course Week,” the city of Aurora Golf Division is inviting golfers to bring their daughters and sons out to play a round for free from July 5-11.
Children 17 and younger will be allowed to play for no charge with a full-paying adult at any of the city’s seven courses.
