ABWA holding inaugural Women in Motion conference
The American Business Women’s Association has scheduled its inaugural Women in Motion business conference for Oct. 2 at the Sheraton Hotel.
The conference will open with a continental breakfast with a humorous motivational speaker, followed by an interactive workshop with Dr. Roberta Kraus form the Center for Creative Leadership. The luncheon in the garden area will feature a fashion show.
Afternoon seminars will include topics such as mental feng shui, interior design for a successful office, savvy women – smart money, and chocolate for stress.
There also will be exhibits pertaining to women in business, which will be open to the public.

Artists for Elders Art Show opens
The Artists for Elders Art Show opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at Sunnyrest Health Care, 2400 E. Cache La Poudre.
The show will be juried by local artist Chuck Mardosz and feature the work of local artists, including Tom Woen, Dan Schultz, Mary Cohagen, Rita Cirillo and Donald Willis. Artists will receive awards for first, second and third places, as well as honorable mention. All artwork will be for sale.
The exhibit will be at Sunnyrest through Aug. 29. The top 30 art works will then be shown at the Cottonwood Artist’s School from Sept. 6-27, with a second opening on Sept. 10.

Hike the Habitat scheduled for Sept. 18
For eight years it was called Scale the Scar Hike. Now, hikers are encouraged to participate in the Ninth Hike the Habitat on Sept. 18.
The five-mile hike begins at 8 a.m. at the quarry gate. Parking is available in the Navigators parking lot about a mile north of the Garden of the Gods Visitors Center on 30th Street. Advance registration is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. The deadline is Sept. 16. On site registration will be $17.50 for adults and $12 for children.
