Golf tournament raises more than $30,000 for Silver Key

On Monday, August 30th the Classic Homes Golf tournament to benefit Silver Key Senior Services was held at the Country Club of Colorado. A field of 128 golfers played 18 holes under partly cloudy skies. The event raised in excess of $30,000.

Randy Gradishar, a former linebacker with the Denver Broncos, played in the tournament with a foursome that paid $1000 to play with him. He also contributed two jerseys, two pictures and a large poster of his Bronco days, all autographed, for the live auction.

The awards poolside dinner was a Mexican fiesta including a fajita bar, enchiladas and a Mariachi band. Awards were given at the dinner. Third place went to The Classic Homes team of Dan Winter, Joe Loidolt, Scott Gray and Jan Merriman; second place was the Landuis Team of Leroy Landuis, Mike Herman, Dale Peletier, and Brad Larson; and the first place winners were The Housing and Building Team of Jack Wiepking, Jim Stiltner, Renee Zentz and Kirk Standley.

Steve Scott from Scott Building served as the auctioneer for the live auction. Golf related art was sold as well as a six-day, six-night South African Safari and a foursome to play at the Sanctuary.

The golf committee included, Arlinda Thomas, the special events coordinator and fund developer for Silver Key, Jan Cass, chairman, Jack Henderson, Christine Kimberling, Frank Alexander, John Cassiani, Al Williams, Debbie Shackelford, Jeanne Cowen and Doug Truitt.
