ABWA hosting ‘Women in Motion’ conference

The Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association is hosting “Women in Motion” – A Conference for Businesswomen on Oct. 2 at the Sheraton Hotel, 2886 S. Circle Drive.

The keynote speaker for the event is Roberta V. Kraus, Ph.D., of the Center for Creative Leadership. Exhibits open and registration begins at 8:15 a.m. The cost is $79 ($65 for ABWA members) and includes all activities, including seminars, breakfast and lunch.

Library hosting workshop on researching gift prospects

The Pikes Peak Library District is hosting a workshop about setting strategies for major gift prospects from 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Penrose Public Library.

The workshop will include tips to find and use information about individuals to identify potential major gift prospects, set cultivation strategies and determine appropriate solicitation levels using free resources available through the library district and the Internet.

KCIC hosting fall teacher workshops

The Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration is several workshops for teachers.

Dream-Makers Hands-on Visual Arts Workshop is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at Celebration Place (upper level of the Mervyn’s wing of The Citadel Mall). The workshop, which is based on the theme “dreams you can count on” and Crayola Dream-Makers Resource Guide, is open to teachers of all grade levels. The cost is $8 and includes dinner.

Dreams You Can Count On, Part II is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Penrose House, 1661 Mesa Road. The workshop will link instruction to the arts and provide strategies to strengthen curriculum. The cost is $55 and includes educational materials and lunch.

Exploring “Tom Sawyer” Through Drama will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Celebration Place. Participants will discover how each moment of action lends itself to dramatic possibilities. The cost is $20 and includes dinner.
