The Colorado Springs Police Department has won first place in the Center for Digital Government’s “Best of the Web” Government Achievement Award.
The Center for Digital Government (CDG) is considered the premier organization on digital government from the federal to the local level.
The department received first place in the Internal Applications category, which consists of intranet sites. The department entered the “CSPD Connections-Intranet Information and Application Portal,” which provides CSPD employees with news, information, training schedules, reference materials, evidence management, inventory management and over 25 other internally built applications.
The intranet site is also used to enter Crime Blotter and Community Alert information for public dissemination.
The top five award winners included the Colorado Springs Police Department, New York City Housing Authority, Chicago Courts, San Diego County and the Texas Department of Family Protective Services, respectively. Members of the department’s Information Technology section will attend the awards ceremony, which is scheduled for October 21st in New York City.
As the top award winner, CSPD representatives will present an overview of the department’s intranet system at the CDG Summit on October 22.
