Air Academy offering identity theft seminar

Air Academy Federal Credit Union is hosting a free identity theft seminar from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at its main branch, 1355 Kelly Johnson Blvd.

Information will be available about how to protect your financial identity, what to do should you become a victim of identity theft and products that can help keep personal information safe.

Export business seminar slated for Feb. 9

The next segment of the “Managing Your Export Business” seminars is scheduled for 8 to 9 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce conference room, 2 N. Cascade, Suite 110. The seminar is being co-hosted by the Office of International Affairs, FedEx and the Department of Commerce.

The discussion will focus on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Schedule b Commodity Codes. Suzette Nickle and Martha Butwin of the U.S. Department of Commerce will discuss the HTS and how to correctly classify and describe a commodity when preparing export documents.

Military engineers/business training conference on tap

The Society of American Military Engineers Denver, Pikes peak and San Diego Posts are hosting a conference, “Reaching New Peaks of Engineering Excellence,” March 2-4 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center.

The goal of the conference is to bring together small and large businesses with public and uniformed services engineers to promote education, create networking possibilities and announce engineering opportunities where public and private sector engineers and related professionals can work together in support of national security.

Special events include an SAME Young Members/Fellows activity, small business training sessions, a networking icebreaker, more than 70 exhibits, military installation opportunity briefs, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sessions and a ski trip to Winter park on March 5.
