Change of heart about city manager

Dear Editor:

I was so wrong to send you my recent “Letter to the Editor” about City Manager Lorne Kramer. Mr. Kramer is and has been the very best person to serve in public service ever in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Kramer is a highly intelligent, capable and professional man of principles.

I “vented” in your forum because I felt I had been wronged by his decision to not reveal the budget/financial aspects of the TABOR (Taxpayers Bill of Rights) refund to the public and I had no right to do so.

I have always been a supporter of Lorne C. Kramer – both as our outstanding chief of police and then as our (even better) city manager.

Mr. Kramer has a very difficult job to do and his dedication to excellence is only surpassed by his determination and professionalism.

And, his honor and integrity are very real. He did what he felt was best for the people of this fine city, and today I not only see that – but gratefully accept that as well.

I retract my “Letter to the Editor” of (last month) and only hope that a man of Mr. Kramer’s caliber and compassion will accept my sincere and heartfelt apology – because it is true and very real. I was wrong and I apologize to the CSBJ and, mostly, to Mr. Kramer himself.

Respectfully and sincerely submitted,

Addy M. Hansen
