The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering free training seminars about state sales tax issues.
The classes are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at 1881 Pierce St., Room 110 in Lakewood and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at 4420 Austin Bluffs in Colorado Springs.
Participants will learn about sales tax licenses, how to collect sales tax, distinguishing sales and use tax and available electronic services.
Training materials are provided and no pre-registration is necessary.

SCORE, Service Corps of Retired Executives, has announced the schedule for its free workshop, “Should You Start Your Own Business,” for the first half of 2006. All workshops are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and registration is not necessary.
The workshop will include information about how to access and evaluate your business ideas, how to assess your risks and management skills while setting realistic expectations, funding realities for a start up, marketing considerations – such as demand, customers and competition, the business plan – describing your business, the marketing plan, the financial plan and why you need one, and how SCORE counselors can help with the process.

The Catamount Institute and REI are presenting the Snow Shoe Essentials and Winter Photography Clinic from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26 at the REI store, 1376 E. Woodmen Road.
Participants will learn the basics of snow shoeing and gear selection, as well as how to take nature photographs during the winter months.
A snow shoe hike and photo safari /winter ecology outing are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Catamount Institute’s mountain campus.
