State offering sales tax class

The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering a free training seminar about state sales tax issues at 2:30 p.m. March 2 at 4420 Austin Bluffs Parkway.

The seminar also will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 3 and 17 at 1881 Pierce St., Room 110 in Lakewood.

The seminar includes information about sales topics and a review of all forms related to sales tax collection and remittance. Participants will learn about sales tax licenses, trade names, how to collect sales tax, distinguishing sales and use tax, and electronic services.

Ad federation hosting art show, auction

The Pikes Peak Advertising Federation is hosting a gallery show and benefit silent auction from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 3 at the Business of Arts Center/Venue 515 in Manitou Springs.

Donated artwork will be auctioned, and the proceeds will benefit the PPAF Education Fund, which awards scholarships to high school students pursuing degrees in visual arts and marketing.

Workforce center hosting summer hiring event

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is seeking employers who understand the impending worker shortage and are willing to hire and train their future work force.

Local businesses that need summer help and are willing to hire and train young workers are encouraged to attend the center’s Youth Summer Opportunity Fair noon to 4 p.m. March 8 at the Doubletree World Arena. The event is part of the Governor’s Summer Job Hunt.
