Every Kid. Every Time. Goosebumps is the vision statement of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the goal of Bob Chastain, president and CEO.
Combining his passion, vision, knowledge and leadership persona, Chastain stands to change the face of the zoo in this community.
Chastain worked to develop the zoo’s My Big Backyard and African Rift Valley complex. The latter was awarded the 2004 National Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Significant Achievement award and the 2003 Colorado Springs Partner-ship in Community Design award.
As an active member of the National Association of Zoological Horticulture, Chastain has spoken at three national conferences, one regional conference and the International Zoo Design conference in England. He has served as secretary, vice president and president of the organization.
Chastain also is a member of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association and the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta.
When he is not at the zoo, Chastain can be seen driving for the Woodland Park Ambulance Service, coaching the Colorado USA Freestyle Wrestling team or fighting fires with the Woodland Park Volunteer Firefighters.
He received a bachelor’s degree in public horticulture from Purdue University and a master’s degree in environmental education and ecology from the University of Wisconsin.
