Marlena Whitt has the drive to meet standards and go beyond what is required of her position as member relations specialist at Air Academy Federal Credit Union.
In 2005, Whitt helped oversee the opening of the Elbert High School Branch. She also formed an advisory committee to determine ways to market to young adults.
The credit union received the Desjardin Youth Financial Education award and the Louis Herring award for philosophy in action because of Whitt’s work with youth programs and classroom presentations.
She also is actively involved in the community, having donated pieces of her private art collection to help build four schools in Hispanic neighborhoods in Chicago and helped the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Colorado Springs raise money for an art awards program.
Whitt has a bachelor’s degree in studio art/graphic design from Hastings College.
