Workforce Center hosting HIPPA business seminar

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center Business Relations Group is hosting a seminar about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26 at the center’s main office, 2306 E. Pikes Peak Ave.

The seminar, which is being presented by the Mountain States Employers Council, is tailored for business managers and owners. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

Humane Society hosting Fur-r-r Ball

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is hosting The 2006 Fur-r-r Ball: A Salute to American Heroes from 5:30 p.m. to midnight April 29 at the Sheraton Hotel.

The event will feature photo opportunities with featured animal heroes, a three-course dinner and a live auction.

State offering sales tax class

The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering a free training seminar about state sales tax issues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 at 1881 Pierce St, Room 100, Lakewood.

Participants will learn about sales and use tax statutes and regulations, types of sales tax licenses and application forms, sales tax collection and the difference between sales and use tax and available electronic services.

Catamount Institute hosting Mission Reorganization

The Catamount Institute is hosting Mission Reorganization from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 at the Beidelman Environmental Center, 740 W. Caramillo.

The seminar, which is part of the institute’s Living Simply, Living Well workshop series, will introduce strategies to eliminate clutter, organize your home and personal space for optimal function and maintain a “clutter-lite” lifestyle over the long-term.

The registration fee is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
