Junior League hosting membership info nights

The Junior League of Colorado Springs is hosting membership information nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 27, July 13 and July 24. The locations of the meetings have not been determined.

The Junior League is a women’s volunteer organization that has been addressing community needs for more than 80 years. The group has founded and fostered organizations and events such as Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, CASA, Court Care, Safe Kids, Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Literacy Center and the Care Fair health fair.

Leadership program for chamber, EDC members

The Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp. are teaming with the Catamount Institute to present Dynamic Change Leader on July 20.

The one-day seminar uses nature as a classroom to teach participants that their businesses are systems, allowing leaders to shape change, not be controlled by it. Systems thinking enables users to analyze and minimize risk, discover untapped strengths and resources, avoid repeat mistakes, anticipate the broad impact of decisions and foresee trends that create opportunity.

The program is limited to 30 participants. The cost for chamber members and friends of the EDC is $450.

Conservatory offering summer sessions

The Colorado Springs Conservatory will have its Summer Session 2006 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 27 to July 23 at 1430 N. Hancock Ave.

The program provides intensive study for young musicians and theater students ages 8-19. Tuition depends on the program, and scholarships are available.

State offering sales tax training

The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering a free training seminar about state sales tax issues at 2:30 p.m. July 6 at 4420 Austin Bluffs Parkway.

The 90-minute seminar will include information about sales tax licenses, trade names, how to collect sales tax, distinguishing sales and use tax, and available electronic services.

Training materials will be provides and no pre-registration is necessary.
