The one-day seminar uses nature as a classroom to teach participants that their businesses are systems, allowing leaders to shape change, not be controlled by it. Systems thinking enables uses to analyze and minimize risk, discover untapped strengths and resources, avoid repeat mistakes, anticipate the broad impact of decisions and foresee trends that create opportunity.
The program is limited to 30 participants. The cost for chamber members and friends of the EDC is $450.
For more information, or to register, call 417-0910, ext. 106.
The Colorado Springs SCORE chapter is offering “Starting a Small Business” workshops for members of the military.
The four-hour course is designed to answer the basic questions for people leaving the service and starting a small business.
The presentation includes discussions about the advantages and disadvantages of starting from scratch, purchasing a franchise or buying an existing business. While the information is an important first step, it does not replace the need to seek legal and accounting advice for concerns unique to an individual business.
Registration is done through the Family Support Center at each base or post. The cost is $15 per participant. Additional information is available by calling the SCORE office at 636-3074.
Programs are scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon at the following locations:

Peterson AFB – Aug. 2 and Nov. 1
