State offering sales tax class

The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering a free training seminar about state sales tax issues at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at 4420 Austin Bluff Parkway.

The 90-minute seminar will include information about sales tax licenses, trade names, how to collect sales tax, distinguishing sales and use tax and available electronic services. Training material will be provided.

SCORE offering workshops for military personnel

The Colorado Springs SCORE chapter is offering “Starting a Small Business” workshops for members of the military. The four-hour course is designed to answer the basic questions for people leaving the service and starting a small business.

The presentation includes discussions about starting from scratch, purchasing a franchise or buying an existing business. While the information is an important first step, it does not replace the need to seek legal and accounting advice.

Registration is done through the Family Support Center at each base or post. The cost is $15 per participant. Additional information is available by calling the SCORE office at 636-3074.

Programs are scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon at the following locations:

Fort Carson – Aug. 8 and Nov. 14

Peterson AFB – Aug. 2 and Nov. 1

Schriever AFB – Aug. 29 and Nov. 7
