SBA hosting Regulator Fairness Board Hearing

The Small Business Administration’s National Ombudsman’s Office is holding a regional Regulatory Fairness Board Hearing from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 26 at the SBA’s Colorado District Office, 721 19th St, Suite 426, in Denver.

The hearing offers small business owners an opportunity to comment about regulatory enforcement action in a forum that ensures the government is listening. Participants will be allowed to give testimony about unfair or excessive federal regulatory enforcement actions such as repetitive audits, investigations, punitive fines, penalties, threats or retaliation.

The Pikes Peak Library District is offering the following business programs in September:

Minding Your Business, 8:30 a.m. Sept. 5 and 23 at the Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave. Learn about business resources available at the library during a free tour. Registration is not necessary. Call 389-8968 for more information.

Grantseeking for Nonprofit Organizations, 8 to 10 a.m. Sept. 7 in the Gates Computer Lab at the Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave. Learn to identify foundation and corporate giving programs using free online databases, including the Foundation Directory Online and the Colorado Grants Guide. Registration is required. Identity theft Awareness, 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Briargate Branch, 9475 Briar Village Point. The program will provide information about how identity theft happens, who is vulnerable and the potential consequences of those affected. Registration is not necessary. Call 260-6882 for more information.

Investment Tools at Your Library, 8:30 a.m., Sept. 14 and 30 at the Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave. Learn to research company information and follow company or mutual fund performance. Council of Governments: transportation meeting

The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments is hosting a public meeting about improving the transportation system from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the East Library on North Union.

State offering sales tax class

The Colorado Department of Revenue is offering a free training seminar about state sales tax issues from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 at 4420 Austin Bluffs Parkway.

The class will include information about sales tax licenses, trade names, how to collect sales tax, distinguishing sales and use tax, and available electronic services.

Training materials will be provided and pre-registration is not necessary.
