PPWFC hosting workshops, networking groups

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is hosting several workshops and networking groups this month. There is no charge, but registration is usually required. To register, visit www.ppwfc.org and click on the job seeker icon and then on workshops.

CareerScope: Career Planning, 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays. Take an inventory of your career interests and aptitudes and receive a printed analysis with guided research about labor market information and training options. Register online. Computer Basics, 1 to 3 p.m. (instructor-led session) and 3 to 5 p.m. (practice, open lab), Mondays. Register online.

Success Profiler, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fridays. Information about interpersonal skills, decision-making and more. Register online.

Success Profiler: Emotional Intelligence Development, Dec. 29. Assess and enhance your strengths in self esteem and assertion, adapting to change, interpersonal sensitivity and communication, learning style, team and leadership skills, stress and time management, and physical wellness. The program is self-paced and computer-based, and a minimum of two hours is recommended. Register online.

Springs Chorale holding membership auditions

The Colorado Springs Chorale is holding auditions for membership from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., Jan. 2 and 3 at First Christian Church, 16 E. Platte Ave.

Peak reader program seeking volunteers

The Children’s Literacy Center is seeking volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring for first- through sixth-grade students.

Volunteers will tutor one child, two hours a week for 12 weeks.

Orientation and training sessions are scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16 and 17 at the center, 2928 Straus Lane, Suite 100.

The Service Corps of Retired Executives is hosting free workshops entitled “Should you start your own business” on the following dates:

The Service Corps of Retired Executives is hosting workshops for military personnel who are considering leaving the service and starting a small business. The cost is $15 per participant or couple.

The presentation will include information about starting a business from scratch, purchasing a franchise and buying an existing business.
