PPWFC hosting workshops, networking groups

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is hosting several workshops and networking groups. There is no charge, but registration is usually required. To register, visit www.ppwfc.org and click on the job seeker icon and then on workshops.

All programs are held at the main office, 2306 E. Pikes Peak Ave.

CareerScope: Career Planning, 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays. Take an inventory of your career interests and aptitudes and receive a printed analysis with guided research about labor market information and training options. Register online. For after-work appointments, register at the center’s front desk or call 667-3825 or 667-3790.

Computer Basics, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (instructor-led session) and 3 to 5 p.m. (practice, open lab), Mondays. Register online.

SkillsCheck, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays or Thursdays. Test your office skills (not a training tool). Register online.

Success Profiler, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fridays. Information about interpersonal skills, decision-making and more. Register online.

Mock Interviewing: Practice Makes Perfect. Practice your interview and reduce anxiety in a live, one-on-one simulation. By appointment only. Visit the PPWFC Resource Room or call 667-3825 or 667-3790.

Networking Groups: Job trends, shared leads and job search support. Executive Group, 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays; Professional Group, 1:30 to 3 p.m., Wednesdays; Over-55 Job Seekers, 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesdays; Veterans, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., first, second and fourth Wednesdays.

SCORE hosting workshops for entrepreneurs

The Service Corps of Retired Executives is hosting free workshops entitled “Should you start your own business” on the following dates:

  • Jan. 23, East Library Community Room
  • Feb. 13, Penrose Library Adult Meeting Room
  • March 6, Penrose Library Adult Meeting Room
  • March 29, East Library Community Room
  • April 17, Penrose Library Adult Meeting Room
  • May 8, Penrose Library Adult Meeting Room

The Penrose Library is at 20 N. Cascade Ave. The East Library is at 5550 N. Union Blvd.

The workshops are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and will include information about the rewards of starting a small business, the attributes of a successful entrepreneur, business planning (including how to determine your cash requirements) and the legal form of your business entity.
