Small Business Advocate nominees sought

The National Small Business Association is seeking nominations for its 2007 Small Business Advocate of the Year.

The winner will be announced in May.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to small business advocacy, a proven history of voluntary efforts and endeavors to advance small business and improve the conditions of small business owners, success and growth as a small business owner, and any other accomplishments demonstrating merit as an effective advocate for small business interests.

Nominations should be sent to Rob. Yunich, Small Business Advocate of the Year Award, National Small Business Association, 1156 15th St. NW, Suite 1100, Washington, D.C. 20005-1755. An application form is available at nsba.biz/award.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 19.

County seeking help with Fairgrounds master plan

El Paso County Parks and Leisure Services is seeking input to update the master plan for the El Paso County Fairgrounds.

Residents can help by taking a survey, which can be downloaded or completed online at www.elpasoco.com/parks or www.elpasocountyfair.com. Surveys also are available at the County Fairgrounds, 366 10th St. in Calhan or by calling 520-7780. The deadline to return completed surveys is Feb. 1.

The updated master plan will include proposed upgrades to existing facilities and the addition of new facilities. The goal is to convert the Fairgrounds into a regional park facility that can host a variety of year-round events and activities.
