Memorial North is the latest addition to Memorial Health System. The campus, located on Briargate Blvd., is 224,000 square feet on 83 acres.
Called a “boutique hospital” by Memorial North administrator Joy Powell, the new facility will have 98 beds, and a full-service Emergency Department including a helicopter transport pad.
The new hospital is also a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care unit, radiological services, a birth center and a surgical center with six state-of-the-art operating room suites.
The hospital is attempting to move away from the traditional — instead of long hallways and stark, white walls, Memorial North features warm colors, fire places and a “pod” design that allows nurses better access to patient rooms.
Memorial Health System celebrated the completion of its latest building March 8 with a gala event, with close to 500 people in the community attending. The hospital also opened to the public March 10, when thousands of Briargate residents toured the facility. Memorial North is expected to open for patients April 25.
