PPWFC networking groups and workshops

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is offering the following networking groups and workshops this month.

There is no charge to attend, but registration is required at www.ppwfc.org. All workshops and networking groups are at the main office, 2306 Pikes Peak Ave.

Executive Group: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays

Professional Group: 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesdays

50-plus Job Seekers: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays

Veterans: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. first, second and fourth Wednesday

Job Match: Completing Your PPWFC Skills Profile — 10:30 a.m. to noon, July 19 or 26. You might be missing calls for jobs. In-depth guidance for registering your skills in the PPWFC statewide, job-matching system.

Job Shop: Guided Job Search — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24. Job search guidance and organization, including resume and portfolio development, job application, ads, networking, interviewing and negotiation.

Resume “Righting”: Resume and Portfolio Design — 9 to 10:30 a.m. July 19 or 26. This session provides resume and portfolio basics, and is designed for those urgently needing a resume update or as a head-start for Job Shop.

Self Employment: The Driver’s Seat — 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 17 or 31. Explore a range of resources for starting a business, including legal issues to keep in mind, while weighing the pros and cons of working for yourself.

Cocktails in the Canyons to benefit Care and Share

The Junior League of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs Young Professionals, Delay Development Co. and The Food Designers are hosting Cocktails in the Canyons at Broadmoor from 6 to 9 p.m. July 19 at the Mirabella and Tesoro Bello model homes, 6330 Farthing Drive.

The event will benefit Care and Share Food Bank, and will feature Italian flared appetizers, cocktails and networking. The cost is $10.

Junior League hosting annual CARE Fair

The Junior League of Colorado Springs, Peak Vista Community Health Centers and Memorial Health System are hosting the Fifth Annual CARE Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 21 at Peak Vista’s Family Health Clinic, 2840 International Circle, and the Dental Clinic, 2828 International Circle.

The program provides free immunizations, back-to-school physicals and dental, hearing, diabetes and vision screenings for uninsured and underinsured school-aged children. Free haircuts and school supplies also will be available.

CARE Fair serves about 450 children annually.

SCORE hosting workshops for prospective entrepreneurs

The Service Corps of Retired Executives is hosting a free workshop entitled “Should you start your own business” on the following dates:

Attendees also will be provided perspective about the risks and types of activity involved with owning a small business, the initial planning that should be done by anyone considering starting a small business and issues to consider before launching a business.
