Small business resource fair

The Small Business Administration, in partnership with the Denver Public Library, Minority/Women Chambers’ Coalition, Denver SCORE Chapter, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Small Business Development Center Network and the State of Colorado Minority Business and Women’s Office, is hosting a free small business resource fair from 10:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Aug. 16 at the downtown Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave. Parkway.
Representatives from various commercial lenders, federal prime contractors, business assistance organizations, local chambers of commerce and federal/state government agencies will be available to answer questions about starting, operating and growing a business.

Fort Carson restoration board meeting

The Fort Carson Restoration Advisory Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Elkhorn Catering and Conference Center, Building 7300, off Woodfill Road.
Information will be available about a variety of ongoing site cleanup projects.

Revenue Department hosting sales tax classes

The Colorado Department of Revenue Taxpayer Service Division conducts sales/use tax class throughout the state.
The classes include information about a variety of sales/use tax topics, a general review of forms related to sales/use taxes collection and remittance, and information about online services that assist businesses with tax collection and filing.
The next class is from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Robert Hoag Rawlings Library, 100 E. Abriendo Ave., Pueblo.

CNE hosting board training workshops

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is hosting a board training workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 25.
The focus will be expectations for board services; the governance, financial and legal roles and responsibilities of board members; how effective boards operate; finding the right fit; and creating strong board/staff partnerships.
The cost is $35 for CNE members and $45 for non-members.
