Small business resource fair

The Small Business Administration, in partnership with the Denver Public Library, Minority/Women Chambers’ Coalition, Denver SCORE Chapter, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Small Business Development Center Network and the State of Colorado Minority Business and Women’s Office, is hosting a free small business resource fair from 10:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Aug. 16 at the downtown Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave. Parkway.
Representatives from various commercial lenders, federal prime contractors, business assistance organizations, local chambers of commerce and federal/state government agencies will be available to answer questions about starting, operating and growing a business.
Reservations are not required.

The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is offering the following networking groups and workshops this month.
There is no charge to attend, but registration is required at www.ppwfc.org. All workshops and networking groups are at the main office, 2306 Pikes Peak Ave.
Executive Group: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays
Professional Group: 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesdays
50-plus Job Seekers: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays
Veterans: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. first, second and fourth Wednesday
Job Match: Completing Your PPWFC Skills Profile — 10:30 a.m. to noon, Aug. 16, 23 or 30. You might be missing calls for jobs. In-depth guidance for registering your skills in the PPWFC statewide, job-matching system.
Job Shop: Guided Job Search — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21. Job search guidance and organization, including resume and portfolio development, job application, ads, networking, interviewing and negotiation.
Resume “Righting”: Resume and Portfolio Design — 9 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 16, 23 or 30. This session provides resume and portfolio basics, and is designed for those urgently needing a resume update or as a head-start for Job Shop.
