Penrose Health Center will open its 22,000 square-foot vascular center tomorrow.
The center is a joint venture between the Vascular Center of Colorado and the Penrose-St. Francis Heart Institute.
It will provide for elective and emergent invasive cardiac needs, including angiography and emergency stent placement, ablations and the entire pacing spectrum, ranging from single-chamber pacing to bi-ventricular intra-cardiac defibrillators. Pacemakers and defibrillators can be analyzed on site as well as remotely.
The center will have three electrophysiological and angiographic labs. A fourth lab is being built.
About 75 physicians, nurses, X-ray and cardiovascular technicians will use the center, which is accessible around the clock.
Other features include a streamlined admission process and immediate emergency patient access via an elevator that connects the Penrose Hospital Emergency Room to the Flight for Life helicopter pad.
