Senate Democrats played a game of musical chairs today, and when the music stopped, Colorado Springs found itself with representation on the Joint Budget Committee.
Democrats selected John Morse of Colorado Springs to fill a seat on the JBC.
The leadership shakeup follows the resignation of former Senate President Joan Fitzgerald, who resigned two days ago to devote herself full-time to her campaign for the 2nd Congressional district.
Peter Groff of Denver was selected as Senate President, the first black to hold the post. Abel Tapia of Pueblo was selected as president pro tem and resigned his seat on the Joint Budget Committee, to which Morse was appointed.
