The Salvation Army announced today that it has received a $100,000 Daniels Fund grant to support The Salvation Army’s R.J. Montgomery New Hope Center, the organization’s downtown homeless shelter at 709 S. Sierra Madre St.
“This gift will enable us to continue services to those most in need in Colorado Springs,” said Major Don Gilger, El Paso County Coordinator for The Salvation Army. “Our pledge to the community is to do the most good with all gifts we receive.”
The Daniels Fund, established in 1997 by cable TV pioneer Bill Daniels, gives grant and scholarship money to nonprofit organizations in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Last year the Daniels Fund distributed $47 million in Colorado.
