Kaiser Permanente announced yesterday that it will give $16 million to support a statewide anti-obesity program.

Kaiser will disperse the money over five years to the nonprofit LiveWell Colorado, a public-private program to fight obesity in the state.

LiveWell was established in March by Kaiser, the Colorado Health Foundation and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Physical Activity and Nutrition Program.

LiveWell seeks to institute healthy dietary programs in small communities and so far has launched 11 such programs in the state, including one in Fountain.
