Want to get there faster? Take Platte Avenue or Academy Boulevard.

The City’s 2007 Travel Time Study results show that average, drivers on Platte proceeded through eight green traffic signals before being stopped by a red one. Drivers on Academy averaged seven.

Drivers on Powers Boulevard, Research Parkway, and Woodmen Road hit an average of five green traffic signals before encountering a red one, while Cimarron Street drivers face just three green traffic signals before being stopped by a red signal.

The study, first conducted in 2006, provides a benchmark for travel times and speeds along Colorado Springs’ eight busiest corridors.

Garden of the Gods Road/Austin Bluffs Parkway and Union Boulevard were not included in the 2007 evaluation because of construction projects.
