Few called for free New Year’s Eve cab ride

While the final tally has yet to be totaled, attorney Michael McDivitt said only 200 calls were made for free Yellow Cab rides on News Year’s Eve.

McDivitt announced last week that his Law Firm would pay for the rides within Colorado Springs for the holiday.

Yellow Cab General Manager Fred Hair said the number of free rides will likely increase because vouchers for free rides that were not dispatched after a phone call request have not been totaled yet.

McDivitt initially estimated that he would pay for about 1,800 cab fares.

  1. We were with friends and their son called Yellow Cab at about 1:00 AM and he was told that the wait would be over two hours. Our friends left and picked up their son so he did not have to drive home.

  3. We called around 1:00 am for a cab and we were told it would be an hour and a half. We walked home. Even on past New Years Eve’s this has never been the case.

  4. Maybe fewer cab drivers were on duty… maybe this arrangement isn’t beneficial to them or something.
