Kent Butts will present a lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Colorado College entitled Environment and Security: Greening the Military.
Butts, director of the National Security Issues Branch, Center for Strategic Leadership at the U.S. Army War College, will discuss restructuring systems and operations in the U.S. Department of Defense to make their activities less destructive to ecosystems in the United States and the biosphere.
The lecture, which is free, will take place in the Gates Common Room, third floor or Palmer Hall, 1025 N. Cascade Ave.
Hmmm, how the armed forces can be more “green” while destroying the enemy’s assets. Perhaps manure grenades so they can leave behind fertilizer when they blow up something. Instead of .223 ammunition, they can load their cartridges with acorns instead. Ah! And for their shotguns, how about watermelon seeds?
