Choice Hotels International has finalized a national development agreement with Bell Hospitality Group to build at least 50 extended-stay brand hotels, one of which is planned for Colorado Springs.

A Springs location has not been announced, but it will be among the first nine properties built by BHG. Construction is expected to begin within two years.

Others among the first nine will be MainStay Suites properties in Tulsa, Okla; Kansas City, Mo., Oklahoma City, and four suburban extended-stay hotels in Louisiana, specifically New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles.

The national hotel developer plans additional hotels for Denver, Houston, Austin, Alexandria, La.; and Albuquerque, N.M.

Under the terms of the agreement, Oklahoma City-based Bell Hospitality Group will develop the 50 properties under the MainStay Suites and suburban extended-stay brands, all to be under construction by Oct. 31, 2009. Upon announcement of the deal, nine of the franchise agreements were simultaneously executed.
