Crain’s Chicago Business reported yesterday that Mayor Richard Daley’s administration has proposed building a home for the United States Olympic Committee on the city’s Navy Pier on Lake Michigan close to Chicago’s downtown.
The news comes as the USOC is meeting this morning in Atlanta, where it is expected to review options for a possible relocation of its headquarters from Colorado Springs.
Whether a relocation announcement will be made today is not known.
USOC officials have said they’re interested in moving to Chicago but also interested in staying in Colorado Springs.
The Crain’s story also said that the search here has been “very quiet” in recent weeks and interpreted that to be a possible sign that the committee’s interest in moving there has diminished.
