Ent receives 5-star rating

End Federal Credit Union has earned a 5-Star Superior rating from Bauer Financial Inc.
The rating is based on the overall financial picture of the credit union and indicates that Ent is one of the strongest financial institutions in the nation.
This is the 32nd consecutive quarter that Ent has earned the top rating.

SBA upgrades podcasting

The U.S. Small Business Administration has upgraded its podcasts to offer additional resources to entrepreneurs.
The podcasts, which are available at www.sba.gov/tools/audiovideo/Podcasts/index.html, provide an introduction to a variety of small business topics, as well as business information and advice.
The newest topics include “Marketing to the Federal Government,” “Getting Your Small Business Ready for Tax Season” and “Online Reporting of Employee Wages.”

Peak Vista selects board officers

Peak Vista Community Health Centers and its foundation have elected board officers and directors for 2009.
George Guerrero will serve as chairman.
Jenny Knellinger is vice chairwoman, Steve Scott is treasurer and Marilyn Bignell is secretary.
Steve Ingham is the immediate past chairman.
Sue Foerster will serve as chairwoman of the foundation.
Jay Maloney is vice chairman and Bill Corrigan is treasurer/secretary.

Volunteer needed for SAC

The City of Colorado is seeking a volunteer to sit on the Stormwater Advisory Committee for the Stormwater Enterprise.
The opening is for someone who represents a public institution, school, military base or post, or governmental entity that owns property within the city limits.

YMCA honors volunteers

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has recognized the following individuals for their service to the organization.
Former CEO Dick Roy received the J.H. Woodgate Award.
Volunteer of the Year awards for 2008 were given to Dave Talbot, Briargate Family Center; Dave Reitan, Camp Shady Brook; Jacqueline M. Dengler, Downtown Family Center; Kim Dean, Fountain Valley YMCA; Michael Medina, Garden Ranch Family Center; Billy Williams, Southeast Family Center/Armed Services YMCA; and Lynn Spear, Tri-Lakes Family Center.

Free tutoring in reading

The Children’s Literacy Center is offering free one-on-one tutoring for children reading below grade level.
Children are matched with trained volunteer tutors and meet twice a week for an hour each session.

Academy offers event speakers

The Air Force Academy Speakers Bureau has volunteers available to discuss a wide range of topics.
The bureau is a public affairs program designed to increase public awareness of the academy and the Air Force, and provide information about other topics that might not be readily available elsewhere. The service is available to schools, youth groups, veteran and civic organizations, conferences and other events.
