The Sand Creek Branch Library will re-open March 21 after a five-month remodeling and expansion project. The $2.4 million renovation project was paid for through the Pikes Peak Library District budget, with $340,000 in fund-raising specifically for the project. The district still needs to raise $274,000 to finish the project.
Sand Creek is one of the busiest districts with 25,000 monthly visits and 5,000 log-ins to the library computers.
The expansion includes 25 adult computers and three express computers that offer high-speed Internet access. A flexible computer lab can be closed for special classes. The library also gained an additional 4,000 square feet of space through the remodeling project.
