Mothers danced with their sons and fathers with their daughters on the final night of the Jon D. Williams Cotillion at The Broadmoor Hotel earlier this month.
The Cotillions were launched 59 years ago by Jon and Vivian Williams, who continued the tradition until their deaths. Their son, Jon D. Williams Jr., has grown the family business to more than 50 Cotillions throughout the United States.
Students demonstrated their new skills to parents and distinguished guests. Classes for students from the third to ninth grade include instruction in manners and etiquette, along with ballroom dance.
Connie Armit has been the chairwoman for the Broadmoor Cotillion for the past 17 years. Armit also began the Colorado Springs Cotillion 14 years ago and turned over the chairwoman position to Sarah MacGuire two years ago.
The Cotillions teach more than 500 students each year in the community.
