Save the environment in your sleep?

Now you can cure two birds with one stone, without having to choose between what’s good for the environment or what’s best for your back.

Relax the Back, on 1234 E. Woodmen Road, now sells the PureFit Bed, a memory foam mattress that is “green.”

And environmental concerns aside, its ergonomically designed with seven zones of neutral posture support.

“Our first priority was to design a bed that is supportive for people with back pain,” said Patrick Graham, owner of Relax the Back. “And, secondly, we wanted an eco-friendly bed – but that does us no good if it doesn’t help backs.”

The mattress is neutral within a 30-degree temperature range. Typical memory foam mattresses are firmer when it’s cold and softer when it’s warm.

It also is produced in a zero emissions chamber and shipped compressed, which results in an 80 percent carbon footprint reduction, and the EcoMemory Foam and bamboo cover are 100 percent hypo-allergenic.

The mattress is made to be fire retardent without the use of chemicals. It contains a halogen-free “fire sock” inside the mattress cover.

Graham said that customers – especially “young parents or people who are about to get pregnant” – often request mattresses made without chemicals.
