More than 200 people gathered at the Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort on March 22 for a “friend-raiser” for the Boys and Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region.
Board members Mike Boyd and Laura Neuman, general manager and vice president of the resort, organized the event which raised $2,000 for the organization.
The resort donated a percentage of profits from food and beverage sales for the event.
“In these tough times, you have to get creative,” said club President/CEO James Sullivan. “This was not your typical black-tie event.”
For seven years, Sullivan has led the organization, which provides after-school programs for 2,500 children ages 6 to 18. Last year, 10,000 youths were served by the organization.
Boyd was celebrity bartender and host, serving drinks as he greeted friends and guests, Sullivan said. Fellow board member Bruce Gillooly invited former Broncos linebacker Randy Gradishar, who showed a video of his football career and signed a football and jersey which were auctioned.
