The second half of about 4,200 4th Infantry Division soldiers from Fort Hood and Iraq are definitely headed our way by mid-July.
A story by Amanda Kim Stairrett that appeared in the May 3 edition of the Killeen Daily Herald details how families – with the help of Colorado Springs representatives – are preparing to make the move to Fort Carson.
Stairrett wrote that “The 4th Infantry Division is getting ready to take the next step in its life: the move to Fort Carson, Colo.”
She also reported that a community fair for soldiers and families was planned for this week. Participants included the following organizations from the Springs: “Chambers of Commerce; Fort Carson Family Housing; Fort Carson Youth Education Support Services; Pikes Peak Workforce Center; Pikes Peak and Pueblo Association of Realtors; Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Fountain School Districts; TriCare West, Exceptional Family Member Program, Medical Activity/Evans Community Hospital, Fort Carson Child and Youth Services and others …”
The story said that more than 1,800 soldiers will be moving to Colorado.
