DDA awards $130,000 to beautify downtown
Nineteen downtown businesses and organizations have been awarded $130,000 in challenge grants from the Downtown Development Authority to spruce up downtown.
Renovation plans include adding landscaping, infrastructure upgrades, new signage and even a couple of murals.
A grant was awarded to help create the Conservation Hardware Center, a store that sells sustainable energy accessories, at 409 N. Tejon St.
Money was also given to help pay for the 2010 Indie Spirit Film Festival.
This is the second year the DDA has awarded the challenge grants, though last year $320,000 was made available.
