Colorado’s online unemployment claims system crashed repeatedly during the weekend, leaving those required to file progress reports without a method to do so and many more worried they won’t receive their benefits.

Technicians are working on the system and hope to have it fixed later this afternoon or tomorrow, but officials confirmed that the crash could mean will recipients could see their checks delayed for a few days.

About 160,000 people in the state are collecting unemployment benefits and each must update their claims every other week. So about one-half of them were due to report in to the department, either through the computer system or by phone, over the past week.

Claimants can still dial (303)318-2800 to reach an automated system where they can update claims, but may have some trouble getting through due to the high volume of calls.
