Whole Foods Market said today it has bought about 776 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy credits – something they say is the largest purchase of renewable energy credits by a U.S. retailer.

The credits were purchased through Boulder-based Renewable Choice Energy Inc.

Representatives said the purchase equates to 100 percent of Whole Foods’ electricity use in its North American locations.
