Local parks could be a little greener next summer.
The El Paso Corp. – parent company of Colorado Interstate Gas Company – has donated $6,000
to the El Paso County Parks Department’s Partners in the Park program today.
That’s a welcome boost to a department that had its budget slashed by $4.6 million this year.
Parks Division Manager Jerry Westling said the donation will help keep the park department moving forward.
“We may have to use it for operating expenses,” he said. “It depends on how far our current budget goes.
“But we’d love to use the money for improvements to turf – if at all possible,” Westling said.
