The action comes in the wake of Chicago’s failed bid to host the 2016 Olympics.
“This is not a ‘vocal minority’ speaking out, but an overwhelming majority voice,” said Skip Gilbert, chairman of the Association of Chief Executives for Sport. “We believe the time for change is now and to that end, we respectfully request the immediate resignation of Larry Probst, chairman of the board, and Stephanie Streeter, acting CEO.”
The leaders of the NGBs said that aside from the failed bid to attract the 2016 Games, events during the last six months also caused them to lose faith in USOC’s leadership, but did not elaborate about specifics.
